Giving and Non-Profit Organizations

Does my organization have to be a non-profit to use the Subsplash app?

No, you do not have to have non-profit or exempt status to use the Subsplash App. However, Subsplash Giving is only available to non-profits at this time.

Why is Subsplash Giving only available to non-profits?

We are able to offer our very-low processing rates by passing along gracious savings extended to us by Visa and MasterCard for non-profit organizations. Rates are higher for other types of payments and Subsplash Giving is currently working to finalize additional special programs to provide this type of processing in the future.

We’re a non-profit and want to use Subsplash Giving! What documents do we need to complete the sign-up process?

Subsplash Giving will need to see one of the following:

  1. Federal IRS letter verifying 501(c)(3) status.

  2. State letter certifying organization is non-profit operating in the state and earnings are not benefitting shareholder or individuals.

  3. Certified copy of the applicant's certificate of incorporation or similar document if it clearly establishes the nonprofit status.

  4. Any item from 1-3 if that item applies to a State or national parent organization, together with a statement by the State or parent organization that the applicant is a local non-profit affiliate.

Additionally, all app stores (Google, Apple, Amazon, etc) require this documentation for all apps that include in-app donations/giving.

What if we are in the process of applying for tax-exemption?

That’s great! We would love to work with you and will need to see a copy of your application.

We’re a non-profit and want to use Subsplash Giving for both donations and things like event payments or merchandise purchases. Is this possible?

At this time, it’s not possible to use it for both donations and for-profit purchases. However, Subsplash Giving is working to finalize support for these types of payments in the near future!

Can you help me determine if my organization can apply for non-profit status?

No, we can not. However, here is a link to the IRS’s website outlining exemption requirements with a link to the application process!

I have more questions about Subsplash Giving and non-profit status. Who can I contact?
